Where to Watch Super Bowl LII in Portland

by Alexander Frane on Jan 30, 2018 in Roundups

While Portland may never get an NFL team, and the nearest one won’t be playing in the Super Bowl this year (sorry, Seahawks fans, there’s always 2019), that doesn’t mean Portlanders don’t love to watch the big game. This year, skip the post-party clean-up and head out to one of these bars to catch the Eagles go head to head with the Patriots. Just because they’re both East Coast doesn’t mean you can’t have a favorite. Where will you be catching the game this year? Let us know on our Facebook or Twitter, and remember to get home safely with Lyft, Uber, Trimet, cabs, or a DD.

Punch Bowl Social
Punch Bowl Social is cooking up some game day specials like black eyed pea hummus and chicken wings served traditionally or with sweet cilantro sauce. Guests can watch Super Bowl 52 on one of the many TVs located around the bar, and those who aren’t as sports-minded can play any of the bar games. (340 SW Morrison Street, 3rd Floor; 503-334-0360)

Ecliptic Brewing
For those looking to stay in for the game, Ecliptic Brewing is offering $5 gift cards with each growler sold before the game on Superbowl Sunday. (825 N Cook St.; 503-265-8002)

The BeerMongers
Taphouse and bottle shop The BeerMongers is hosting its eighth annual Super Bowl Potluck. The bar will be serving up whatever Philly and New England style beers they can find, and guests are expected to bring some food to share. A panel of judges will be giving an award for the best dish. (1125 SE Division St.; 503-234-6012)

Pearl Tavern
Likely the only bar in town to be co-owned by a former NFL player, Joey Harrington’s Pearl Tavern is pulling out all the stops for the Big Game. $5 old fashioneds and $7 whiskey gingers will be available all day, as will buckets of tall boys. Nachos, wings, and other essential food items will be on special, and guests can reserve booths ($200 minimum purchase for a small booth sitting up to five people, or $300 for booths that fit up to seven), or find bar and table seating at a first come, first serve basis. (231 NW 11th Ave.; 503-954-3796)

Function PDX
The event space Function PDX will be hosting a tap-takeover by Widmer Brewing, and will also be serving wine selections by Pinoynoir PDX. Food specials include Longaniza sliders and housemade potato chips, and the event runs from 3 to 8 PM. (919 NW 23rd ave.; 971-712-3016)

East Burn
East Burn is showing the game on two large projectors. In addition to their usual happy hour, the bar is also serving up Game Day specials, including wild boar nachos, ribs, pork wings, and crab fritters. (1800 E Burnside St.; 503-236-2876)

The Station
The Station is offering a game-day package to guests: starting at $30 for two, it includes eight wings, a 10” pizza, and two Rainiers. Each additional guest adds another $15 for more wings and beers, larger pizzas, and added garlic knots. Guests can sign up for a raffle and cheer on their favorite teams on one of the five TVs and two projector screens. Doors open at noon with kick-off at 3:30 PM. (2703 NE Alberta St; 503-284-4491)

The Independent
The Independent Sports Bar & Grill, with its thirty-two screens, will be hosting a “Football Fiesta” with a bottomless taco bar, Sauza Hornitos specials, and an ice luge. Guests will have the chance to enter a raffle to win prizes during the game. Doors will open at 11 AM with kickoff starting at 3:30 PM. (225 SW Broadway #100; 503-206-6745)

Loyal Legion
One of the city’s best beer bars, Loyal Legion is going simple for the Super Bowl with happy hour all day. That means great deals on food like a $5 burger, $5 veggie nachos, $6 housemade frankfurters, and more. Beer pours are $1 off and select wine pours are $6. (710 SE 6th Ave.; 503-235-8272)
