8 Bars in Portland to Watch the NFL Super Bowl XLVIII
Just in case you missed the news, the Seattle Seahawks will go up against the Denver Broncos for the NFL Super Bowl XLVIII on Sunday. These Portland bars are willing to put up with the drunken outcome of watching a Pacific Northwest team finally make it to the big game.
White Owl Social Club (1305 SE 8th Ave.; 503-236-9672)
White Owl Social has an “unnecessarily” large screen and killer snacks for the big game as well as huge buckets of beer.
EastBurn (1800 E. Burnside St.; 503-236-2876)
Catch the game both on the screen inside and on the patio. Brunch will served before the game with the usual Sunday specials of $2.00 mimosas and build-your-own bloody Marys.
Thirsty Lion Pub (71 SW 2nd Ave.;503-222-2155)
Get downtown before 3:20 PM and Thirsty Lion Pub will have 32 taps, signature cocktails and regional wine waiting for you. If you’re stuck on which of the 32 taps to try first, start with a flight of six for just $10.
Grand Central Restaurant and Bowling Lounge (839 SE Morrison St.; 503-236-2695)
Grand Central Bowling’s NFL Back Bar has housed Green Bay Packers fans all season but on February 2nd, the Broncos vs. Seahawks will canvas the 50” plasmas. Why go to a bowling alley during the big game? If you’re one of those chicks who doesn't give two crock pots full of Velveeta cheese about football, there’s always bowling. And beer.
Pink Rose (1300 NW Lovejoy Ave.; 503-482-2165)
The game starts up just around the time the bottomless mimosas special from brunch ends. Smart football fans will not only watch the Super Bowl here, but come early enough for unlimited bubbly and orange juice.
Bazi Bierbrasserie (1522 SE 32nd Ave.; 503-234-8888)
There’s been some buzz online with beer geeks that along with the Super Bowl we should stick Colorado beers up against Seattle beers in an ultimate match of hops and barley. Bazi Bierbreasserie is doing just that with specials on beers from each state. Additionally, the bar will have $3.50 wells, $1 off wine and $2-9 food specials.
Cheerful Tortoise (1939 SW 6th Ave.; 503-224-3377)
This campus favorite will have drink specials, promos and giveaways all throughout the game and with all of those TVs, it’s likely you could very well have your own spot to watch the Super Bowl.
Coalition Brewing Co. (2724 SE Ankeny St.; 503-894-8080)
This pub and 10-barrel brewery will not only be showing the game, it will offer $10 pitchers (Bud Light and football, no more) in addition to a special on cans of Wheat the People. Good beer and football is so 2014.
