The Driftwood Room is turning 60 years old in May and will celebrate with a mid-century inspired cocktail menu, guest bartenders and a Memorial Day party featuring classic cars and vintage fashion.

For the month of May, Driftwood Room imbibers can order cocktails inspired by drinks that were popular when it first opened back in 1954. The Martinez, a precursor to the classic Martini will be available and is made from Old Tom gin, sweet vermouth, maraschino and orange bitters. Also on the menu is the Vesper (think: James Bond) made from vodka, London dry gin and Lillet Blanc.

Each Monday during the 5th month of the year, a guest bartender will help the Driftwood Room celebrate its birthday with variations of 1950s-inspired cocktails. Catch these celebrity bartenders on these dates:

May 5 - Jon Green (Interurban) 6 - 9 PM and Jeremy Mielen (Fireside) 8 - 11 PM
 

May 12 - Neil Koppin (Owner of Imbue Vermouth, alum of Clyde Common) 6 - 9 PM and Jacob Grier (Hop & Vine) from 8 - 11 PM
 

May 19 - Nathan Gerdes (Kask, now Barcardi spirits) 6 - 9 PM and Angel Teta (Ataula) 8 - 11 PM

The 60th Anniversary Memorial Day celebration begins Monday, May 26 from 4 - 7 PM with guest bartenders Sue Erikson of Fireside, Brandon Wise of Imperial, Mindy Kucan of Hale Pele and Alan Akwai of Raven and Rose. Chef Mark Hosak of Hotel deLuxe has designed a menu of 1950s cocktail party fare including Swedish meatballs, pigs in a blanket, deviled eggs and more (Available at happy hour prices.). Classic cars organized by Reid Trummel, chairman of the Monte Shelton Northwest Classic Rally, will be on display in front of the hotel so wear your sleekest 1950s attire.
