These Portland Bars are Open on Christmas Day

For many, Christmas is a time for reflection, gift-giving, and family. For others, it’s just another day, or a time to escape family. Luckily for the latter, there are more than a few Portland bars keeping their doors open for the holiday for a meal and some drinks. Here are ten of the bars open in Portland on Christmas 2017. Where will you be celebrating the holiday? Let us know at our Facebook or Twitter.

Radio Room
An essential Portland holiday bar, Radio Room’s claim to fame is that it’s open every day of the year, and even prepares a special menu for many holidays. This year for Christmas, guests can find a brunch menu from 9 AM to 3 PM, and a dinner special dinner menu until 11 PM. Menu items include crab benedict, pumpkin french toast, a whole roasted game hen, rabbit pot pie, and more, and the entire menu can be found here. (1101 NE Alberta St.; 503-287-2346)

Bar Bar
Another place open 365 a year, Bar Bar opens at its regular time at 11 AM with the usual burgers, fries, cocktails, wine, and scotch. The space inside is small, but the sprawling patio is heated and partially covered for winter dining. (3939 N. Mississippi St.; 503-288-3895)

My Father’s Place
For those looking to avoid family on the holiday, My Father’s Place is the ironically named spot to be. Always busy, this divey bar usually has a few holiday items alongside its diner-style menu of breakfast food, sandwiches, and burgers. (523 SE Grand Ave.; 503-235-5494)

Interurban
One of the city’s best gastropubs, Interurban will be opening at 5 PM for Christmas dinner and, of course, drinks. In addition to its great dinner menu, the bar will be adding some Christmas specials, including duck pot pies, roasted lamb, and foie gras torchon with huckleberry. (4057 N Mississippi St.; 503-284-6669)

Lo Bar
One of Portland’s newest Mexican restaurants, Alto Bajo is serving a prix fixe meal for Christmas Day that requires a reservation. However, those just looking for a bite and a drink can stop into the adjacent Lo Bar in the lobby of the stylish new Hi-Lo Hotel. After all, nothing says Christmas like a mezcal margarita. (320 SW Stark St.; 971-222-2100)

Lucky Devil Lounge
Because it’s not a true Portland holiday for some without a visit to one of our many illustrious strip clubs. Lucky Devil Lounge is warm and decked in red all year round, which gives it a bit of the Christmas spirit. The bar opens later than normal for the holiday, likely around 7 PM. (633 SE Powell Blvd.; 503-206-7350)

Stammtisch
The excellent German bar and restaurant Stammtisch is open this year for the holiday starting at 6 PM, so the staff can celebrate Christmas Day. Stammtisch is serving its full regular menu, so guests can grab some delicious German food and light beers, rather than staying in to cook. (401 NE 28th Ave.; 503-206-7983)

The Beer Mongers
The taphouse and bottle shop The Beer Mongers rarely closes, and Christmas Day is no exception. Thirsty guests will be treated to some specially tapped beers in addition to the usual wide array of bottles, and while there’s not much of a food menu, you can bring in food from whatever other place you can find open. (1125 SE Division St.; 503-234-6012)

Pépé le Moko
For a classy, tasty night out on Christmas, Pépé le Moko is an excellent choice. The hip subterranean bar serves its classic and not-so-classic cocktails every night of the week from 4 to 10 PM, including the holiday. It’s a nice stop for an after-dinner drink or two. (407 SW Tenth Ave.; 503-546-8537)

Roscoe’s
Those in the Montavilla area of town have a great place to go on Christmas, as Roscoe’s opens at 6 PM that evening. The taphouse and neighborhood bar is serving its full menu, with all the Southern influenced sandwiches, burgers, salads, tots, sides and the rest. (8105 SE Stark St.; 503-255-0049)
