Christmas Day Web Traffic: After Dinner, Drinks
What are some of your favorite Christmas traditions? Opening presents before you’ve even had a chance to scramble up eggs and toast? Gathering with loved ones to feast on tables full of ham and pie? Heading out for a night of drinking? Yes, it appears that last item is high on Americans’ list of Xmas Day activities, if we judge by The Drink Nation traffic stats.
On a regular Monday, visits to our site are spread throughout the day, with the most robust traffic coming mid-morning through lunchtime (as folks procrastinate work while planning a night out or reading about the latest booze trends, we assume). On Christmas, however, our traffic spike came later, just around the time holiday dinners wind down and folks get antsy for an escape from grandma and the cousins.
As in years past, we published a roundup of bars open on December 25 in each of our local sites (see Philly, D.C., Baltimore, Portland and Denver), and readers definitely took advantage. Stay tuned for our next day-off roundup, bars open on New Year’s Day, so you can plan your first hangover brunch cure of 2013.
