Fresh hops, get your fresh hops here! The season of beer brewed with just-picked hops is just starting to peak, and this weekend is your best chance to find a whole lot of them all under one roof within city limits. The Portland Fresh Hops Beer Fest, hosted by the Oregon Brewers Guild, goes down Saturday, October 6 at Oaks Amusement Park, and features over 40 local brews, all featuring the fragrant green nuggets.

Reserve your spot online starting at $13.50, which includes a commemorative glass and five drink tickets, and spend the day from noon–8 PM sipping on Lompoc Fresh Hop Harvest Man Red, Alameda 100# Nugget, Hopworks Give Me Liberty and many, many more (check the full beer list here [PDF]). There’s even a kids activity area through 5 PM, so you can bring the whole family.

If you want to prime your fresh hops palate, hit up the preview event on Friday, October 5. Held at the same venue from 5:30–8:30 PM, your $20 serves to get you in for the evening, and also the next day. You’ll get the glass, five drink tickets, half a sandwich from Philadelphia’s Steaks & Hoagies either Beeraigrette Potato Salad or Fresh Hop Beer Cheese Soup from Cheesebar (you choose when you buy the ticket). Never too many fresh hops, that’s our motto, and we’re sticking to it.
