Five Must-Try Fall Cocktails in Washington, D.C.

Nutella, apple pie and spices, oh my! Some of our favorite fall treats are showing up in liquid form around the District. With fall-flavored infusions such as cinnamon, hazelnut, cider and almond, autumn just got a litte more awesome in D.C. Check out five excellent seasonal sips to try — which one do you want most?

Autumn on 14th at Masa 14: Our favorite of the new fall cocktails at this Richard Sandoval spot features the five b’s: bourbon, balsamic syrup, brown sugar, beer and basil. Available at the downstairs bar, it’s a sweet way to welcome fall ($10; 1825 14th St. NW; 202-328-1414).

Armagnac at Poste: This cocktail by mixologist Jason Wiles pairs the oak-aged, wine-based brandy with Amaretto, apple juice, apple bitters and the apricot-and-spice notes of Blandy’s Sercial. Sip it in the courtyard in the cool, crisp breeze ($14; 555 8th St. NW; 202-783-6060).

Spiced Chocolate at Park Hyatt Lounge: Does it get any better than alcohol and chocolate together? This new libation at the upscale hotel Lounge combines homemade chocolate with Frangelico hazelnut liqueur and Captain Morgan Spiced Rum for something like spiked liquid Nutella ($14; 1201 24th St. NW; 202-789-1234).

Katia at Bibiana: With hand-pressed apple cider, cinnamon bitters, Redemption Bourbon and Calvados (an apple brandy), this newcomer at the downtown Italian spot is like spiced apple pie in a glass. We’ll take our with a hearty plate of pasta ($12; 1100 New York Ave.; 202-216-9550).

The French Violette at RIS: Fruity, floral and spicy, this bevvie encompases everything about the season. You’ll warm up with Hennessey VS Cognac and Dubonnet Rouge, offset by Liqueur de Violettes — a newish spirit from Tempus Fugit — Pimm’s No. 1, lavender spice bitters and fresh orange and lemon ($13; 2275 L St. NW; 202-730-2500).
