Portland Beer Week is back for the second year running, with 10 days of great brew-centric happenings all over Beervana. With so much to choose from, how will you plan your itinerary? Check our picks for events you should make sure to hit on your PDX beer adventure.
Portland Beer Week Kickoff
6–10 PM, Thursday, June 7
Spirit of 77 (500 NE MLK Boulevard)
PDX Beer Week kicks off with the tapping of the India Red Lager, the official beer of the week for 2012. There will also be beers from Deschutes, Hopworks, Firestone Walker, and more. A pint glass is $5 and the swag bag package including a 22-oz. bottle of the official beer is $25. Tickets can be purchased here.
Rye Beer Fest
4–10 PM, Friday, June 8
Spirit of 77 (500 NE MLK Boulevard)
A number of Northwestern one-off rye beers will be featured at this free to enter event, sponsored by Taplister. Expect to enjoy sips of Upright Six, Oakshire Line Dry Rye and many special creations.
Beer & Coffee Brunch & Seminar
10 AM–noon, Saturday, June 9
Saravesa (1004 N. Killingsworth Street)
Venture into the world of caffeinated beers with Breakside brewer Ben Edmunds, and hear about the challenges of roasting coffee from bean masters. There will be a special collab coffee beer served at the seminar and you’ll head home with 16 ounces of your own. Tickets are $30.
Portland Fruit Beer Fest
11 AM–6 PM, Saturday–Sunday, June 9–10
NE Burnside & 7th
Over 25 breweries are making beer for this year’s festival and there will be plenty of food to go along. Tickets are $20.
Brewers’ Burger Brawl
5–8 PM, Tuesday, June 12
The Hop & Vine (1914 N. Killingsworth Street)
Five breweries compete to see who has the best burger. Facing off this year will be Gigantic, Double Mountain, Oakshire and Widmer. Each burger will be served in slider form, and your $45 ticket includes one of each five, paired with a brew.
Beer & Food Pairing Seminar
6:30 PM, Thursday, June 14
Wildwood Restaurant & Bar (1221 NW 21st Avenue)
Four local chefs and four brewers will present eight food and beer pairings and lead a discussion on what makes a good match. Tickets are $50.
Portland Beer and Cheese Fest
1–6 PM, Sunday, June 17
The Commons Brewery (1810 SE 10th Avenue)
Steve Jones of Cheese Bar will pair regional beers with an amazing selection of cheese and other small bites. Tickets are $25.
