Portland is beer crazy, and no more so than during the summer months when we have a beer festival every day of the week. This weekend, June 23 through June 25, head to Portland’s Overlook Park for the BrewFest in the Park for then finish the weekend at Interurban on Sunday for the Russian River Tap Takeover and admit that California, too, can make some good beer. Let us know what fun events you’ll be at to cook summer off at our Facebook or Twitter.
BrewFest in the Park
Taking place June 23 through June 25, at Portland’s Overlook Park, from noon to 9 PM Friday and Saturday and Noon to 5 PM on Sunday,
BrewFest in the Park will serve more than 60 craft beverages – including beer, cider and mead – from 41 different brewing companies. There will also be food carts (
Bunk Sandwiches,
The Dump Truck, and
Urban German Grill), vendors, a Crater Lake Soda Garden, games (volleyball, cornhole, and washer toss), and a children’s area with activities and free face painting – all taking place in a beautiful park setting.
Tickets are $25 per person at the gate, and include a mug, 10 drink tickets, a wristband, and free re-entry all weekend. Advance packages
are available at Bold Type Tickets for $25, and include an additional 5 drink tickets for a total of 15. Most products cost one ticket for a taste and four tickets for a full mug. Select products, including some beers and most meads and ciders, will cost extra tickets. Additional drink tickets are available at the festival for $1 apiece.
The BrewFest strongly supports responsible driving. Designated drivers may purchase a ticket for $5 at the door, which includes Crater Lake Soda and a bottle of water; designated drivers are not allowed to consume any alcohol. Guests receive an extra ticket with a validated Tri-Met ticket or a ticket from the Hopworks Bike Corral (only one extra ticket per person).
Minors under the age of 21 receive free admission, but must be accompanied by a parent. Well-behaved pets on leashes are also welcome.
The festival benefits the
Timbers Army 107IST, whose mission is to support soccer in and around Portland, Oregon, from the grassroots to the highest professional level. The 107IST is a member-based non-profit organization open to anyone who loves soccer, the Timbers, The Thorns, and Portland.
Interurban Russian River Tap Takeover
On Sunday, June 25 from 3 PM to 9 PM,
Interurban will fire up the grill and kick off its summer Last Sunday Beer & BBQ series with a
Russian River Brewery tap takeover and grilled menu from Chef Jonny Henry.
Interurban and the Santa Rosa-based brewery, which has earned a cult following for beers such as Pliny the Younger and Pliny the Elder, are excited to feature two Russian River beers that have never been poured in Oregon during this event:
Benediction, an Abbey Double, and
Compunction, a sour ale aged with pluots (apricot plums). Interurban will also feature Russian River’s
Pliny the Elder,
STS Pils,
Sanctification and
Happy Hops on tap.
Chef Jonny Henry and his team will grill up a European-inspired menu to pair alongside these special beers, featuring dishes such as hanger steak with bearnaise, mustard and Gruyère crusted côte de porc, and seared tuna with salsa cruda.
Interurban’s Last Sunday Beer and BBQs are hosted on the last Sunday of June, July, August and September from 3 PM - 9 PM. Each event features a guest brewery selected by Interurban owner and beer expert Dan Hart.
