How to Celebrate Father's Day 2016 in Portland
Father’s Day is almost upon us, so make sure to say “Thanks!” to Dad this June 19. There are a few events going on around town specifically catered to celebrating your old man. We’ve got them here for you. Did we miss a great Father’s Day celebration spot? Let us know on our Facebook or Twitter.
Let Bar Vivant Cater a Picnic for Dad
We recently called Bar Vivant the best wine bar in the city, and we stand by that statement. It just gets better, because Bar Vivant also caters your picnic, putting together an amazing picnic basket with tapas and, of course, wine. Baskets start at $55 and come in a variety of styles, or you can make your own. Details are here. Grab a basket and head out to one of our many parks!
The Portland Spirit
The Portland Spirit is Portland’s classic cruise line, meandering down the Willamette and Columbia Rivers for a variety of events, concerts, and dining. This Father’s Day, board the Spirit or either of the other two Portland cruise ships, the Columbia Gorge Sternwheeler or Willamette Star for a special brunch on the river. $55 includes a buffet, champagne, coffee, dessert, gratuity and more, as well as a special Father’s Day gift for dad.
Dinner at Verdigris
Verdigris, the amazing French inspired contemporary restaurant, is launching a special summer supper program. While dinner goes all summer, Father’s Day is the perfect excuse to stop in and try it. The menu is three courses for a ridiculously affordable $32, though you’re going to want to order a glass or carafe of wine; Verdigris also boasts an excellent program of Old-World wines. Golfing and BBQ at the Eagle’s Landing
It’s not centrally located by any means, but for those willing to drive a bit (or for those in deep SE), the Eagle’s Landing golf course is hosting a pig roast and BBQ. Golf, miniature golf, and soccer golf will all be offered all day, while the BBQ and drink specials will be available 11 AM - 2 PM. For only $5 enter the $500 hole-in-one competition, and dads can escape to the Father’s Day Cave Experience, and try cigars, games, bar, and entertainment. (10220 SE Causey Ave.; 503-698-8020)
