This is our day to invade breweries all over the state. The 6th annual Zwickelmania offers beer buffs the chance to tour Oregon breweries for free, meet the brewers and sample beer (for free!) on February 15 from 11 AM - 4 PM.

Set your own pace and decide which breweries to visit or pay the inexpensive bus fare ($5), hop on the bus and tour the breweries on the map. Here’s an example of a route in SE Portland.

This day dedicated to Oregon breweries is named after a Zwickel. What's a Zwickel?

According to Rogue, a Zwickel is a simple screw valve made of steel on the side of a fermentation tank. Brewers use it to take samples of beer throughout the fermentation process in order to measure the gravity and temperature as well as taste the beer.

Use the Instagram and Twitter hashtag, #zwickel14 to document your experiences in breweries in Portland, Eugene and Salem. Check the website for participating breweries.
