Last year’s Brews for New Avenues event raised $17,000 for New Avenues for Youth programs that support Portland’s homeless and at-risk youth, while at the same time putting rare beers in the hands of over 500 enthusiasts.

This year, you can again support the cause at this festival that features local beers on tap and a live auction of rare beers. The event will take place on Saturday, September 7, at the Green Dragon from 5–10 PM. General admission runs just $10 and includes a beer, raffle ticket and a commemorative mug. Buy your ticket online (here) and you'll get an extra beer for free. The VIP event ($50) starts at 2 PM and offers exclusive beers on tap, hors d’oeuvres, a special selection of beers for the silent auction and a commemorative glass and bottle bag.

What can you look forward to at the auction? Special sips, like a set of seven Crooked Stave "Wild Wild Brett" beers, each with a different take on a 100% Brettanomyces beer, or an "Ultimate Box Set" from Lost Abbey, featuring 12 extremely limited edition beers with names inspired by classic rock songs. Plus, you'll have a chance to bid on a two special cases of Westvleteren 12, called by some "the best beer in the world." Great beer, great cause, win-win.
