Punch Bowl Social
PBS is antithetical to most Portland bars–a sprawling mega-bar with locations in multiple cities, housed under a movie theater in a mall downtown. While the bar is a bit sterile and garish, it’s still very fun, and offers two balconies overlooking downtown streets. Patrons can drink one of Punch Bowl's boozy milkshakes or summer cocktails while observing the rigamarole of city life from a comfortable distance. (Pioneer Place, 340 SW Morrison St.; 503-334-0360)
