Baltimore's Best Seasonal Cocktails for Summer Sipping

The bartenders of Baltimore have created some delicious cocktails for the warmer months. With base spirits like gin, cachaca and everything in between, there’s sure to a little something for everyone on the menus this summer. Did we forget your favorite summer cocktail? Let us know on Facebook or Twitter.

Sage Against the Machine
Bertha’s (734 S Broadway; 410-327-5795)
You may know Bertha’s as the place to swill suds, but the summer cocktail menu is another reason to stop by this iconic Fell’s Point corner bar. Sage Against the Machine combines Hendrick’s Gin, ginger wine, a green tea reduction, lemon-lime sage syrup, and orange bitters for a refreshing warm weather sipper.

Suika Hana
Azumi (725 Aliceanna St.; 443-220-0477)
One of the newest additions to Harbor East, this Japanese waterfront spot shakes up refreshing cocktails perfect for pairing with their sushi and small bites. The Suika Hana is made with Tito’s Vodka, St. Germain Elderflower, watermelon juice, honey and lemon and is served with a candied lime rim. If this doesn’t scream summer sipping to you, we don’t know what will.

Hummingbird
B&O American Brasserie (2 N Charles St.; 443-692-6172)
Seasonal cocktails from well-known Baltimore bartender Brendan Dorr are always on-point at this classy Charles Street spot. If you’re in the mood for something with a floral side, try the Hummingbird this summer. This cocktail features Novo Fogo Cachaca, Lillet Rose, liqueur de Violette, lemon juice, and Velvet Falernum making it the perfect sip for when you need a tropical getaway.

The Pink Panther
Birroteca (1520 Clipper Rd.; 443-708-1935)
We fell in love with Nick Ramey’s bourbon liqueur when we visited Birroteca on a chilly fall night, and we are equally excited about this spring concoction made using Pittsburgh-based Wigle’s gin. The Pink Panther also features Campari, grapefruit juice, and locally made grapefruit-ginger kombucha from Mobtown Fermentation.

Boatjito Crush
Boathouse (2809 Boston St.; 410-773-9795)
This waterfront destination in Canton has a delicious cocktail menu that is perfect for the dog days of summer. We can’t help but mention the Boatjito Crush, made with Deep Eddy Lemon Vodka, strawberries, basil, lemon, simple syrup, and club soda, because we can’t turn down sipping a Crush on an outdoor patio in the sun.

Orchid Punch
Wit and Wisdom (200 International Dr.; 410-576-5800)
We featured Aaron Joseph, Wit and Wisdom’s talented lead bartender, in an article a few months ago when he was busy whipping up beverages for the cooler months (and introducing us to gooseberries). Now, he’s created this lighter floral cocktail with a nod toward the warmer weather. The Orchid Punch features Clyde May’s Whiskey with the addition of fresh, summery ingredients like lime juice, white orchid tea, and apple/kumquat/coriander syrup garnished with a beautiful orchid. Sip this one while enjoying W&W’s new patio.

75th Word
Le Garage (911 W 36th St.; 410-243-6300)
This take on a French 75 is made summer-y with an infusion of spring pea pods and the addition of the herbal Dolin Genepy liqueur. Finished with maraschino liqueur, lime, and brut, this cocktail is summery yet sophisticated.

The Blueberry Bliss
Pane e Vino (408 S High St.; 410-685-3300)
Little Italy’s newest spot to sip, this cozy and classy bar has a whole list of cocktails perfect for accompanying the inspired small plates, or just to enjoy on their own. This fresh and fruity concoction, made with Ketel One, St. Germain elderflower, muddled blueberries, lemon, and simple syrup, is perfect for sipping on a hot summer night.
