Where to Find Boozy Milkshakes in Portland

During Portland’s few months of summer, there are better ways to get creamy and cool than taking a two-gallon jug of vitamin D milk down to the river (we’ve seen it happen). Several burger spots in Portland are creating the perfect union of “steak and shake” by giving millkshakes an upgrade with spirits. Check out three of the best options for spiked shakes in PDX below.

The Original Dinerant: This sophisticated diner inspired by American supper clubs has one of the largest selections of boozy shakes in the city. From the standard Grasshopper (crème de menthe, crème de cacao, chocolate ice cream) to the truly Portland Triple B (bourbon, bourbon-bacon-maple ice cream), there are six available to pair with menu items like the deluxe burger or dog of the day (300 SW 6th Ave.; 503-546-2666).

Foster Burger: Make yours a “Cockshake” by adding a shot of well liquor of your choice (just don't get too creative or you might end up with a Cement Mixer). To play it safe and ensure a tasty combination, order a rotating special like the salted caramel ice cream with butterscotch liqueur (5339 SE Foster Rd.; 503-775-2077).

Dick's Kitchen: Simple and old school is the approach Dick's Kitchen takes to create the adult milkshakes to accompany the grass-fed beef burgers.
